THE ROYAL ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF CANADA STANDING COMMITTEE ON OBSERVATIONAL ACTIVITIES Bulletin No. 10 COMET AND NOVA SECTION SUMMARY OF 1966 SEARCHES Last year, 19 members made a total of 2,476 searches of selected areas of the sky One member (David levy, Montreal) made about half of the searches and, in addition, spent about 6o hours making telescopic searches for comets. Al- though nothing was discovered tv members during the past year, there were several "false alarms". On two occasions telegrams were sent to the IA.U. but dis- coveries were never confirtned. Morehouse, U.S.A., 1; Leo Nikkinen, Montreal, 3; Stephen Simon, Montreal, 33; Norman Sylvester, Hamilton, 64; Vic Williams, Montreal, v6; Miss I.K. Williamson, Montreal, 64; Mrs. K. Zorgo, Montreal, 92. Since this section started receiving reports in 1962, a total of 10,894 searches have been made.
